Murder in Elektrostal on January 18: suspect detained

A 19-year-old young man suspected of murder has been detained in Elektrostal near Moscow. This was reported on January 19 in the press service of the Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee for the Moscow region. A criminal case has been opened under the article "Murder", investigative actions are being carried out with the suspect.

"An investigator of the territorial investigation department of the GSU of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Moscow region has opened a criminal case under part 1 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation — the murder of an 18-year-old local resident. The suspect has been detained and is being taken to the investigator for investigative actions," the department's Telegram channel said.

Causes of deadly conflict

According to the Izvestia source, the incident occurred after the detainee, a resident of Kemerovo, made a remark to a group of young men who insulted girls on the bus. The conflict continued at the bus stop where the fight took place.

During the clash, the 19-year-old pulled out a knife and stabbed Ilya P., one of the participants in the quarrel. The victim was hospitalized. According to the press service of the Moscow region Ministry of Internal Affairs, the young man died in hospital, despite the efforts of doctors, from blood loss.

Later, a video from inside the bus was posted on the Internet. The footage shows four young men insulting a passenger sitting opposite, showing him obscene gestures.

How did the detainee explain his actions

The suspect in the murder, committed at a bus stop in the Moscow suburb of Elektrostal, said that he was in a state of shock during the conflict. The recording of his interrogation was published on January 19 by the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Moscow region in its telegram channel.

The detainee reported that he had taken the knife from his brother's apartment and had it with him. According to him, at the time of the fight, he was not in control of his actions due to the strong emotional tension.

"I was in a state of shock, adrenaline, everything. During this conflict, I used a knife," REN TV quoted the suspect as saying.

The Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee for the Moscow region reported that the investigation is ongoing. Forensic medical, molecular genetic and forensic examinations have been appointed to establish all the circumstances of the incident.

Together with the suspect, another participant in the conflict was brought in for questioning, an acquaintance of Ilya P., who was also on the bus that evening. Now both young men are giving evidence to the investigators.
