The United States approved the sale of weapons to Israel for $6.7 billion and Saudi Arabia for $9 billion amid tensions between the United States and Iran. This was reported on January 31 by The Washington Post (WP).

According to the publication, the deals were approved by the State Department, but the administration of US President Donald Trump bypassed the process of reviewing the sale of weapons to Israel by the House of Representatives Committee.

It is noted that Israel intends to purchase 30 Apache attack helicopters and related equipment from the United States for about $3.8 billion and about 3,000 light armored vehicles worth $2 billion.

Saudi Arabia's defense purchases are mainly aimed at strengthening its air defenses. For example, it will purchase 730 missiles from the United States for its Patriot air defense systems.

The Agency for Security Cooperation (DSCA) of the US Department of War announced on January 29 that the Pentagon had signed a contract worth $ 235.5 million for the maintenance of F-16 fighter jets, including those that were transferred to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). It was noted that the contract provides for the maintenance of intermediate and depot-level aircraft and engines for Ukraine.
