Thousands of people who took to the streets of Minneapolis gathered outside the city court building — people demand the complete departure of officers of the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) from the territory of the entity in which they live. Izvestia publishes footage of the demonstration on January 31.

The video shows crowds of Americans carrying handwritten banners and chanting various slogans. The national flags of their state are flying over the heads of the participants of the action.

In the footage, you can see posters with the words "ICE out of MPLS" and "ICE murders moms and nurses" — they mean "ICE, get out of Minneapolis" and "ICE kills mothers and nurses." Some activists brought paper banners to the rally with phrases motivating their supporters — "Fight together!" (Let's fight together!).

"The police are increasing their presence and setting up barricades, blocking the surrounding streets...> Minneapolis froze in anticipation of how events would develop further," Nikolai Masters, a correspondent for Izvestia, described what was happening.

According to him, there is currently a tense atmosphere in the city, as people have literally organized "a rehearsal for a nationwide march on Washington."

The CBS television channel, citing the Department of Homeland Security, reported on January 7 that an ICE officer who was doing his job in Minneapolis shot and killed a 37-year-old woman there. After the incident, the first mass protests began in the city. Some time later, Fox News reported that another border guard officer opened fire on an armed man, who later died. As a result of the incident, strikes began in Minneapolis, in which almost 100 thousand people took part.

According to American journalist Tucker Carlson, what is happening on January 28 is the first sign of the country's destruction. On the same day, retired lieutenant colonel of the American army, political scientist Earl Rasmussen, who was talking to Izvestia, called ICE's actions "overkill" and said that the fight against illegal migrants was going too far.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
