A criminal case has been opened in the Amur Region over the murder of a child's mother.

A criminal case has been opened in the city of Shimanovsk, Amur Region, over the murder of a young son by a mother. This was reported on January 30 in the press service of the investigative Department of the Investigative Committee (SU IC) in the region.

"The investigation established that on January 29, 2026, in the evening, the suspect, while at home in the city of Shimanovsk, committed murder by strangling her son," the Telegram channel said.

According to the agency, the suspect has been detained, and a criminal case has been opened under paragraph "b" of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Murder"). Investigative actions are being carried out in order to establish the motives.
