Lyubimova reported a 2.5-fold increase in Russian film attendance in three years
The number of viewers attending Russian film screenings has increased 2.5 times in three years, reaching about 100 million people per year. This was announced on January 29 by the Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Olga Lyubimova.
"The growing figures are also demonstrated by the attendance of domestic films in the cinemas of our country. So, over the past three years, it has increased 2.5 times and amounted to about 100 million viewers per year," Lyubimova said at a round table of the State Duma Committee on Culture.
The minister said that every year more and more films with state financial support are being released nationally. In 2023, 81 national films were released, in 2024 — 84, and in 2025 their number is planned to increase to 97. The growth over the period under review was 20%.
"In addition, the share of viewers of Russian films is also increasing, reaching 79% in 2025. This year, a record number of viewers visited our cinemas for the New Year holidays," Lyubimova added.
The VK Video platform, analyzing the content preferences of Russians during the winter holidays, reported on January 16 that from January 1 to January 11 of this year, the total time and coverage of watching Soviet films was three times higher than a year earlier. In addition, it was noted that about 40% of the platform's users watched content on home TVs during the holidays this year.
