The issue of Ukraine's accession to NATO is not on the agenda right now. This was announced on January 26 by the Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance, Mark Rutte.

"There is this irreversible path [of Ukraine's accession] to NATO, which will still be there, but in the short term it is politically, it is practically not on the agenda right now,— Rutte said.

He noted that there are some members in the alliance who are blocking Kiev's accession initiatives. At the same time, the NATO Secretary General stressed that in such conditions, Ukraine's security guarantees are "all the more critical."

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on January 24 that the United States wants to stop any scenarios of Ukraine joining NATO, and Russia sees this. He also announced Moscow's readiness for further contacts with representatives of the American administration.
