BMW car imports to Russia increased by 44%
In 2025, 64,000 BMW cars were imported to Russia, which is 44% more than a year earlier. Imports of new cars increased by a third (+34%) to 18,000 units, while used-car imports doubled (+49%) to 46,000 units. Sergey Tselikov, director of the Autostat analytical agency, told about this in his Telegram channel.
The share of new Chinese-built BMWs was just over 40%, and less than 10% among used ones. The bulk of the cars were produced in Germany. Kyrgyzstan (31.8%) and Belarus (23.1%) became the main transit destinations for new cars. At the same time, almost half of the imported used BMWs (48%) came from South Korea.
The top five most popular models among new cars are crossovers X3 (5.2 thousand units), X5 (3.1 thousand units), X1 (1.9 thousand units), X7 (1.8 thousand units) and X6 (1.8 thousand units). Among used cars, the most popular is the 5th series (6.9 thousand units), followed by the X5 and X3, which are approximately different (6.3 thousand units each), the 3rd series (5.1 thousand units) and the X7 (3.4 thousand units).
"Almost 99% of new BMW cars exported in 2025 had a capacity of over 160 hp. The share of powerful BMW cars with mileage is also quite high — 80%. Therefore, the full rules of recycling will hit the import of this brand very hard," said Tselikov.
Earlier, on January 23, it was reported that by the end of 2025, 127.8 thousand Toyota cars, both new and used, were imported to Russia. This is 12% more than a year earlier. Of this number, new Toyota vehicles (under the age of three) accounted for only a quarter of the total imports (30.3 thousand units), but the year-on-year growth was 40%.
