The French authorities did not notify the Russian Embassy about the detention of the tanker, which was sailing from Murmansk. This was announced by the Russian diplomatic mission on January 22.

"The French authorities did not inform the Russian Embassy in any way about the fact of the tanker's detention, or about the crew of this tanker," the embassy's message reports TASS.

It is noted that the staff of the Russian embassy, together with diplomats from the Consulate General in Marseille, are finding out whether Russian citizens were on board the tanker in order to provide them with the necessary assistance.
