On the Syrian-Lebanese border, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) attacked four border crossings used by the Hezbollah movement to smuggle weapons, and eliminated a key smuggler, Muhammad Awasha. This was reported on January 21 in the army press service.

"Awash played a key role in promoting arms smuggling for Hezbollah, using a cover company that ordered and transferred prohibited goods from countries such as Iraq, Syria and the Persian Gulf countries," according to a post from the social network X (formerly. Twitter).

It was clarified that Awash was simultaneously running arms smuggling networks from Iraq to Syria and Lebanon.

The press service noted that the IDF continues to monitor Hezbollah's efforts to build up military capabilities and promised to act against any violations of the agreements between Israel and Lebanon.

Earlier, on January 11, the IDF reported attacks on Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon. The press service reported that mines used to store weapons at several Hezbollah military facilities were attacked.
