The administration of US President Donald Trump will continue to implement the second phase of the peace plan in the Gaza Strip, despite the objections of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. This was reported on January 17 by the Axios portal, citing sources.

"This is our show, not his. In recent months, we have managed to do things in Gaza that no one thought possible, and we will continue to move forward," a senior American official told the portal.

He clarified that no one had consulted with the Israeli Prime Minister about the composition of the committee under the "Peace Council" headed by Trump. According to him, the presidential administration wants Netanyahu to focus on Iran, and the issue of the Gaza Strip would remain with Washington.

Axios correspondent Barak Ravid, citing the office of the Israeli Prime Minister, reported on January 17 that the composition of the Gaza Strip governance council was not coordinated with Israel and contradicts state policy. The office added that Netanyahu instructed Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar to contact US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on this issue.
