Gas prices in Europe have set a new record since mid-2025
Exchange prices for gas in Europe exceeded the amount of $450 per 1,000 cubic meters for the first time since June 2025. This is evidenced by trading data on the ICE exchange on January 16.
The price of futures on the TTF index increased by 12.8% during the day and amounted to $450 per 1 thousand cubic meters. The day before, this figure was $398.4.
The last time exchange prices for gas exceeded $450 was in June 2023.
Gazprom's press service reported on December 28 last year that gas reserves in underground storage facilities in Europe continue to decrease at a record pace during the holidays. The report also states that the rapid reduction of gas reserves in Europe may lead to problems with gas supply in winter.
