Trump named the composition of the US group for monitoring policy towards Venezuela
U.S. Vice President Jay Dee Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth will join a special group that will monitor the United States' involvement in Venezuela. This was announced on January 5 by US President Donald Trump in an interview with NBC News.
As the American leader noted, Stephen Miller, the deputy chief of staff of the White House, is also included in the group.
"This is a common group. They all have their own diverse competencies," Trump said.
The US President stressed that the key responsibility for decisions on the Venezuelan issue remains with him.
Earlier in the day, it was reported that Donald Trump announced that there were no plans to hold elections in Venezuela in the next 30 days, noting the need to first stabilize the situation in the country. He also admitted the participation of American oil companies in the restoration of the republic's energy infrastructure and stressed that the United States is not at war with Venezuela.
