Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has wished his compatriots a Happy New Year in several languages, including Russian. He posted a video message on January 1 on his Facebook page (owned by Meta, a company whose activities are recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).

In his congratulatory message, Fico said "Happy New Year!" in Russian, as well as in English, Italian and Swedish, emphasizing that in this way he demonstrates the orientation of Slovakia's foreign policy to all four corners of the world.

On January 1, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban wished Happy New Year and wished that 2026 would be the time for Europe to return to common sense. In addition, he also wished peace in the new year.
