NYP found out about insufficient protection of Trump by the US Secret Service
The US Secret Service continues to put President Donald Trump's life in danger due to lax security, and the government is hiding information that could expose recent failures in protecting the American leader. The New York Post writes about this on December 27.
We are talking about the September incident when Trump dined at Joe's Seafood, Prime Steak & Stone Crab restaurant, listening to the chants of protesters from the Code Pink organization, who, apparently, knew in advance about his plans to visit the institution.
"I'm really very concerned about the president's safety <...> He was almost killed twice, allegedly under the protection of the Secret Service, and then he was led into a potentially dangerous ambush," said Tom Fitton of the Judicial Watch oversight group, commenting on the incident at the restaurant.
Judicial Watch has been trying for three months to obtain information about how the protesters obtained information about Trump's carefully concealed movements.
"These people were allowed to come within arm's reach of the current president, carrying knives and who knows what else," Fitton said.
On December 18, the surveillance group filed a lawsuit in Washington Federal Court, demanding to provide "all internal emails and text messages between the US Secret Service from the Presidential Protection Department regarding the presence of Code Pink protesters" in this institution.
According to court documents, the government allegedly ignored the December 9 deadline for providing information, the authors of the article noted.
Chris Swecker, former assistant director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), called the incident "an incredible security lapse."
The first attempt on Trump's life during this election campaign occurred on July 13, 2024, when he was holding an election rally. The former American leader was shot in the ear on a tangent trajectory. As a result of the shooting, one of the spectators was killed, two more people were injured. The attacker was eliminated by the return fire of an FBI sniper.
The second assassination attempt on Trump took place on September 15, 2024: a shooting occurred at a golf club in West Palm Beach, Florida. The suspect has been detained and could face up to 20 years in prison, a fine and restriction of liberty. It was clarified that Trump was 500 m from the epicenter of the incident. The Republican candidate later said that he was not injured in the shooting and is safe. The politician thanked his colleagues for their support.
