At the end of the week, the Moscow region expects a cyclone that will bring heavy snow and a blizzard, which will form a stable snow cover for the New Year, said Tatiana Pozdnyakova, a leading specialist at the Meteonosti news agency, on Thursday, December 25.

According to her, the region will see a noticeable warming in the coming days, but on December 26 the cyclone will bring heavy snow. Snowfall is expected on this day at night, and strong winds with gusts up to 17 m/s are expected in the afternoon. The air temperature is expected to range from 0 to -3 degrees, and at the beginning of next week there will be even steady snowfall.

In an interview with Radio 1, Pozdnyakova noted that this would allow the snow that falls not to melt and stay in Moscow for the holidays.

Earlier in the day, meteorologist, leading specialist of the Phobos weather Center Evgeny Tishkovets said that the air temperature on New Year's Eve in Moscow will drop to -10 ...-13 degrees, snow cover will be 10-15 cm, the Moscow city News agency writes.

Also on December 25, the Ministry of Transport of the Moscow region warned of a deterioration in the weather on the night of December 26. As specified by 360.ru forecasters predicted a snowstorm and an increase in snow cover to 6 cm. The road services have already been put on high alert for operational work.

According to Moscow 24, due to heavy snowfall in Moscow, motorists are being asked to postpone trips and switch to public transport. The recommendation applies to both December 25th and 26th.

In an interview with RT, Alexander Ilyin, a forecaster at the Meteo forecasting center, also warned that a snowstorm, ice, and sometimes drifts on the roads are expected in Moscow on the night of December 26. A severe snowstorm is also forecast in the Tambov, Voronezh, Kursk, Moscow, Bryansk, Orel, Kaluga and Tula regions, IA Regnum reports.

At the same time, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in the Moscow region warned that a snowstorm and increased winds of up to 15 m/s were expected in the Moscow region on Friday night. Residents of the region were urged to be careful and follow safety rules.
