Ukraine's debt payments over the next three years will average 1.19 trillion hryvnias or $28.2 billion, which is almost 10% of the country's projected GDP. This was reported on December 24 by the Ukrainian newspaper Ekonomicheskaya Pravda with reference to the debt strategy approved by the Cabinet of Ministers.

It is specified that the total amount of payments for three years will be $27.7 billion in 2026, $29.8 billion in 2027 and $30.5 billion in 2028. According to the newspaper, most of the national debt consists of obligations to external creditors.

"So, in 2025, the state will pay 11.7% of GDP on debts, in 2026 - 11.3%, in 2027 — 10.5%, and in 2028 - 9.5%," the publication notes.

Earlier, on September 26, the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine reported that the country's state and state-guaranteed debt as of August 31 amounted to more than $192 billion, an increase of $6.58 billion over the month. As indicated in the agency's report, the external debt amounted to 75.34% of the total debt, which is equivalent to 5.989 trillion hryvnia or $145.17 billion.

Prior to that, on September 17, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that one year of military operations costs Kiev $120 billion, of which $60 billion has to be asked from the allies.
