A resident of Norilsk, whose five-month-old son died of starvation after she left her apartment for four days, leaving her children unattended, pleaded guilty. This was announced on December 22 at the Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee for the Krasnoyarsk Territory and Khakassia.

"The death of the child was reported to the woman by her eldest 15-year-old daughter by phone. The mother was not at home from December 14 to December 17. The woman admits her guilt," RIA Novosti quoted representatives of the department as saying.

The woman lived in the apartment with her three daughters (15 years old, two years old and one year old), as well as her five-month-old son.

The death of a baby in Norilsk was reported earlier that day. The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the region reported that the other two children from the family were hospitalized. The boy died on December 17 from exhaustion after prolonged starvation. During the inspection of the apartment, the investigators found a lack of food in the refrigerator. The eldest daughter is placed in a social shelter for children. A criminal case has been opened against the mother who was absent from home under paragraphs "c" and "d" of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Murder").
