A preschool teacher in the Nizhny Novgorod region was accused of torturing children. We are talking about a kindergarten in Gorodets. The parents of the students reported injuries that the children regularly return home with. A criminal case has been opened into the incident under the article "Torture". Details can be found in the Izvestia article.

What happened

A kindergarten teacher in Gorodets, Nizhny Novgorod region, was accused of child abuse. Both local and federal media reported on the incident at the preschool. In particular, the portal "We Live in Nizhny Novgorod" quoted the words of outraged parents who spoke about the systematic torture faced by the institution's pupils. One of the boys, presumably due to the actions of the tutor, suffered serious injuries — a fractured finger with a fractured phalanx and lacerations. The victim's mother claims that this happened due to a pinched hand in the doorway. The teacher herself insists that the child stuck his finger in the battery.

"The teacher said that the boy stuck his finger in the battery. And when the parents put the child in the center of the group and asked him to show how he got injured, he pointed to the front door. We don't know who pinched his finger," the victim's mother told RT.

There have been other precedents related to child abuse. Another woman claims that her child was force-fed carrot casserole, causing him to vomit.

There is also a child with a hemangioma (benign vascular formation) among the victims, which, according to his parents, should not be damaged, warmed or smeared with something.

"In the evening, I undress the child to bathe, I look, and he has a layer of iodine on his leg. She (the teacher. — Ed.) decided that my child has lichen. Naturally, the child's leg was burned," the boy's mother complained.

Parents of kindergarten students claim that kids regularly return home with bruises. One of the children, according to his mother, was pushed by the teacher in front of his grandmother, who saw everything through the window.

Since September, parents have been trying to get the teacher, who they believe is aggressive, fired. About 40 people signed a collective letter to the head of the municipal district.

"The teacher behaves aggressively and rudely with the pupils, exerts physical influence, causes pain to the children. So, about three years ago, on a walk in front of a witness, she grabbed a child by the hand and dragged him across the grass. He was lying down, and the teacher scolded him in a rude way," follows from the text of the document.

The parents say they don't want to put the teacher behind bars. But they demand that the woman be suspended from work.

The reaction of the authorities

A local media report clarifies that at first the preschool administration sided with the parents and the injured children. However, the tutor was never fired.

Alexander Mudrov, the head of Gorodetsky district, commented on the situation. Initially, he stated that only a parent-teacher meeting would allow for maximum opinions. One of the ways to solve the problem was to transfer the children of dissatisfied mothers to other groups if the majority of parents sided with the teacher.

On Friday, November 28, Mudrov said that by now a meeting of all parties to the conflict had been held.

"We held a parent—teacher meeting this week, where we offered mediation services to all parties to the conflict," the head of the district explained in his Telegram channel. He expressed the hope that a compromise would eventually be found that would satisfy both the parents and the institution's management.

The Nizhny Novgorod Investigative Committee also reacted to the public outcry. A criminal case has been opened against the staff of the institution under Article 117 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (torture). This was reported by the press service of the regional department.

At the moment, investigators are establishing the circumstances and causes of the incident. They will have to give a legal assessment of the actions of preschool officials.

Article 117 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation provides for the infliction of physical or mental suffering through systematic beatings or other violent acts. According to it, the educator faces imprisonment for a term of three to seven years with the deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years.
