On December 21, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan expressed gratitude to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev for unblocking the transit of goods to Armenia through Azerbaijan.

"I express my gratitude to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan for the decision to unblock transit cargo to Armenia through the territory of Azerbaijan, as well as creating conditions for the start of bilateral trade," he said at an expanded meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council.

Pashinyan also noted that this decision is one of the first and most important steps towards establishing peace and stability in the region.

On August 8, Aliyev and Pashinyan signed a declaration on the peaceful settlement of the conflict in Washington. They agreed to end the confrontation and resume diplomatic relations.

Later, on October 21, Aliyev announced that all restrictions on the transit of goods to Armenia had been lifted in the country. Then he stressed that this was an important step towards establishing peace between the two republics "not only on paper, but also in practice."

On December 18, Pashinyan instructed the South Caucasus Railway Company to immediately restore border railway sections on routes to Turkey and Azerbaijan. According to him, the decision concerns the section from Yeraskh to the border with Azerbaijan (Nakhichevan), as well as from Akhurik to the border with Turkey.
