Ripe and sweet tangerines are characterized by a bright skin with pronounced pores, elasticity and a green tail. This was announced on December 14 by Ksenia Kuznetsova, senior lecturer at the Department of Food Safety at ROSBIOTECH University.
"The peel should be bright, shiny, uniform, without darkening and spots. When pressed lightly, the peel springs slightly — this indicates the good condition of the fruits and proper storage," Kuznetsova explained in an interview withГазета.Ru ".
According to her, ripe tangerines are usually heavier, have a coarse-pored peel and intense flavor. Medium-sized fruits are often sweet, and too large can be watery. The tail of fresh fruits should be green and elastic. Tangerines with excessive shine, spots, mold, or a dry tail should be avoided.
