Russia must come to the negotiating table to resolve the situation in Ukraine. This was reported on November 24 by the Independent, citing British Foreign Minister Yvette Cooper.

"Of course, there is still a lot of work to be done, but the main thing is that Russia now needs to sit down at the negotiating table," Cooper said after a meeting between European and Ukrainian foreign ministers.

She noted that the participants of the meeting confirmed their support for peace for Ukraine. Cooper also stressed that active cooperation with allies and European partners remains a priority for the UK.

The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Keir Starmer, clarified that progress has been made in resolving the Ukrainian issue, but there is still a lot of work to be done.

"There is progress, but there is still a lot to be done," he said.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on November 12 that Jonathan Powell, National security adviser to British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, had tried to establish an unofficial channel of communication with the Russian authorities, but the dialogue had not been continued. According to the Kremlin representative, during the contact, the British side showed an "acute desire" to state the position of the Europeans on the settlement in Ukraine, but did not demonstrate readiness to listen to the Russian point of view.
