Registrations of new Skoda cars in Russia increased by 168%

In October, 1,061 new Skoda cars were registered in Russia. This is 168% more than in October last year, when 396 cars of the brand were registered. This was announced on November 10 by Sergey Tselikov, director of the Autostat analytical agency, in his Telegram channel.

In just 10 months, 4,620 Skoda cars were sold in Russia. The increase compared to last year was 60%. The most popular model is the Skoda Kodiaq crossover, which accounts for more than half (56%) of demand. The top three also include Karoq (15%) and Superb (13%).

More than half (55%) of the Skoda cars sold in the Russian market were assembled in China. Approximately 44% more is accounted for by cars assembled in Kazakhstan. At the same time, 99% of Skoda cars sold in Russia were locally assembled until 2022, the analyst noted.

In addition, according to Tselikov, Volkswagen car registrations in October in the Russian Federation increased by 164% year-on-year, to 1,140 vehicles. In 10 months, the number of new cars increased by 21%, to 5,037 units. The most popular model this year is the Tiguan, with Teramont and Tavendor crossovers also among the top three. 94% of new Volkswagen cars registered in Russia this year were produced in China.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that in October of this year, Vladivostok Customs set a new record for the clearance of vehicles for personal use. In the middle of autumn, customs officers issued 38.5 thousand vehicles.
