American actor Woody Harrelson has announced that he will not return to the role of Detective Marty Hart in future installments of the HBO series True Detective.

"To be honest, I would not return to this role. No way. The first season of the series came out great. I think another season will only spoil the impression," The Hollywood Reporter magazine quotes Harrelson as saying.

He said that in the near future he will continue to work with actor Matthew McConaughey (his colleague on the series. — Ed.), but already in a new project.

"We're doing something together, it's a half-hour comedy, and hopefully people will enjoy it," Harrelson said.

However, the actor did not disclose additional details.

According to the publication, we may be talking about the upcoming TV series "Brother from another Mother," in which two characters are trying to live together on a ranch in Texas. The release date has not yet been announced.

"True Detective" is an anthology series in the genre of crime drama. In each season, the plot develops around the investigation of a mysterious high-profile murder. The first season was nominated for four Emmy Awards in 2014. In addition, Harrelson and McConaughey were nominated for an Emmy and a Golden Globe for their roles.

On the same day, it was reported that the premiere of the series "Dear Willy" on November 1 will take place on the REN TV channel. This is a political detective story based on real events of the 1970s. The plot tells about a secret mission during which Leonid Brezhnev, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the CPSU, and German Chancellor Willy Brandt were able to prevent a global military conflict and initiate a policy of detente between the USSR and the West.
