Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze canceled a meeting with Elina Valtonen, Chairman of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), due to her presence at a rally in Tbilisi on October 14. This was reported on October 15 by the Telegram channel Sputnik Georgia, citing a statement from the government of the country.

"The decision was made due to Elina Valtonen's participation in an illegal rally and the dissemination of false statements," the article says.

It is specified that on Tuesday, October 14, she met with protesters at the parliament building in the center of the Georgian capital.

Prior to that, on October 7, the Tbilisi City Court arrested five opposition politicians who had organized an attempt to storm the presidential palace during anti-government protests in Georgia. The state prosecution arrested all five defendants, based on the threat of the opposition members escaping and committing new crimes. The opposition's lawyers asked for their release, saying the case was political in nature. Criminal cases have been opened.

Protests against the ruling Georgian Dream party began in Tbilisi on October 4 against the backdrop of the country's parliamentary elections. Correspondent Giorgi Jabishvili, who covered the protesters' march, noted that not only Georgian national flags could be seen in the crowd, but also American flags. The protesters broke the fence near the presidential palace.
