Turkey will continue to purchase gas from all available suppliers, including Russia. This was stated on October 2 by Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar in an interview with CNN Turk.

"We cannot tell our citizens, 'We have run out of gas.' To ensure uninterrupted supply, we need to ensure access to these resources without discrimination. We have agreements with Russia. Winter is coming. We need to get as much gas as possible from Russia, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan," he said.

At the same time, the official added that Turkey also intends to increase its own production. According to him, the country has set a goal to provide gas to 16 million households through its own production by 2028.

On September 26, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the Turkish authorities can independently decide on the scope of cooperation with Russia, including on the purchase of Russian oil, since the country is a sovereign state. According to him, the Turkish Stream pipeline is currently operating at full capacity, as is the Blue Stream pipeline.

A day earlier, US President Donald Trump said at a meeting with Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan that he would like Turkey to stop buying Russian oil. According to the American leader, Erdogan could have a great influence if he wanted to, but "now he is very neutral."
