Russian Iskander missiles surpassed American Tomahawk in speed

The Iskander tactical missile system is superior to the high-precision Tomahawk subsonic cruise missiles. This was stated to Izvestia on October 2 by former special forces officer, retired Colonel Anatoly Matviychuk.

It is specified that the length of the Iskander is 7.3 m, the maximum range is 4 thousand km. The speed of this missile is more than 900 km / hour.

"There are two versions of Tomahawk. The first is an operational—tactical one with a high-explosive fragmentation warhead, the second is with a nuclear warhead. Iskander and Tomahawk have a similar range of about 2.5 thousand km, but they differ in class and purpose," Matviychuk said.

In addition, Matviychuk added, the Kalibr missile is also superior to the Tomahawk. The weapons are capable of hitting targets at a distance of up to 2.5 thousand km, they are more modernized and sensitive to changes in the control system, which allows them to bypass various means of protection, including air defense, missile defense and electronic countermeasures systems.

Andrey Koshkin, an expert at the Association of Military Political Scientists and head of the Department of Political Analysis and Socio-Psychological Processes at the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, told Izvestia that Kalibr surpasses Tomahawk in terms of price and quality, also praising the characteristics of the Russian missile more highly.

At the same time, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that there is no "magic weapon" for Kiev and no weapon can radically change the course of events on the line of contact.

According to the president's press secretary, possible deliveries of Tomahawk to Ukraine will lead to a "new round of tension" that will require an "adequate response" from Russia.
