Tighten the screws: Ukrainians aged 25-60 will be put on military registration automatically
The Ukrainian authorities decided to register all men aged 25-60 years for military service. Those who have not yet been included in the lists without legal grounds will be registered automatically, without visiting territorial recruitment centers (TCCs) and passing medical commissions. According to the expert, this measure is designed to "tighten the screws" for the population. For more information, see the Izvestia article.
In Ukraine, men aged 25-60 will be automatically registered for military service.
Men between the ages of 25 and 60 who live in Ukraine and are not registered in the military will be included in the relevant lists automatically. This was announced by the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense.
Also, registration of conscripts at the age of 17 is now possible remotely through the mobile application "Reserve +", without having to go through a military medical commission. The procedure for de-registration of citizens who have reached the age limit for staying in the reserve is also automated.
In Kiev, the initiative is explained by the desire to simplify and digitalize processes, reduce bureaucracy and reduce the burden on the shopping center.
However, political analyst Alexander Dudchak, in a conversation with Izvestia, said that with this decision the Ukrainian authorities want to send most of the population to the front due to the fact that they do not have enough people on the line of contact.
— Ukraine lacks personnel, losses are high. People are fleeing — hundreds of thousands of people are arbitrarily leaving a part. The Ukrainian authorities are trying to capture everyone, to bring the task set by the West on the genocide of the Ukrainian population to its logical conclusion, that is, using it in the furnace of the war against Russia," he said.
Last October, Time magazine, citing Zelensky's aide, reported that the ranks of the Ukrainian troops had thinned so much that military enlistment offices were forced to conscript people whose average age is 43.
The Ukrainian authorities have "tightened the screws" for young people
Such new laws are also attracting attention because just in August, the Kiev regime raised the age threshold for young citizens who are allowed to leave the country to 22 years old. All this was done in order to make it easier to cross the border.
It should be recalled that restrictions on the departure of men from 18 to 60 years old were introduced after the start of the military operation in February 2022. Exceptions were made for fathers of large families, people with disabilities, volunteers, athletes, individual civil servants and other categories.
According to political analyst Dudchak, now the authorities have decided to finally "tighten the screws" for the older population.
— For several years, these young people left without waiting for them to reach the age of conscription or 18. That is, we tried to leave earlier as much as possible," he said.
The draft age in Ukraine has been lowered to 25 years
Under the conditions of martial law in Ukraine, active mobilization of citizens continues. Vladimir Zelensky signed the general mobilization order on February 24, 2022.
Thus, the draft age for those who are sent to the line of contact was lowered from 27 to 25 in 2024, and men aged 18-25 were required to undergo military training. The mobilization in the country applies to men under 60 years of age.
Also in the spring of 2025, the United States called on Kiev to lower the mobilization threshold to 18 years, but the Ukrainian side rejected this idea, citing Ukraine's main problem — the lack of weapons.
