Moldovan President Maia Sandu is preparing the country for war, as she has increased the budget of the country's defense ministry four times in four years. Ex-President Igor Dodon told Izvestia about this on September 26.

"It is obvious that the opposition, the current opposition, is a bloc of patriots for neutrality. It is Maya Sandu who prepares the country for war. Over the past four years, I have significantly increased the budget of the Ministry of Defense four times," Dodon said.

According to him, Sandu scares the population and claims that if the opposition wins, there will allegedly be a war.

He added that exercises with NATO troops were held almost every six months. In addition, military bases are being built in the country and military equipment is being purchased.

Dodon is confident that the current government is aware of its loss in the parliamentary elections, and therefore the government is using repression and blackmail. For example, they are trying to block voting rights for citizens from Transnistria, besides, they have opened only two polling stations in the Russian Federation.

"Of course, the government is trying to catch on by any means so as not to lose the elections or, in case of loss, to annul the elections. We are ready for this, we are ready to defend our victory," he stressed.

Earlier, on September 15, Ilan Shor, the leader of the Pobeda bloc of opposition parties, said that Sandu and her ruling party had intensified repression against the opposition in order to intimidate it before the upcoming parliamentary elections. He noted that before the elections scheduled for September 28, the Moldovan National Anti-Corruption Center (NCCC), under the jurisdiction of the head of state, detained several representatives of the bloc.

On September 24, Zakharova noted that Moldovans must unite against the ongoing Romanization, otherwise they will lose control of their own lives and will be forced to mimic power.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on the same day that a significant part of the Moldovan population, which advocates good relations with the Russian Federation, was deprived of the right to vote in their country. On September 23, the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) announced that Europe was preparing to occupy Moldova. According to the SVR, the EU member states are determined "to keep Moldova in line with their Russophobic policies at any cost, including the introduction of troops and the actual occupation of the country."
