The Russian customs authorities carry out inspections of heavy trucks and warehouses on the territory of the Russian Federation outside the checkpoints and are not the reason for the accumulation of vehicles on the border with Kazakhstan. This was announced on September 24 by the Federal Customs Service (FCS).

On the same day, a number of media outlets reported the largest traffic jam on the border between Russia and Kazakhstan. According to the portal Azh.kz , no more than 7 thousand trucks can pass.

The FCS noted that at present, indeed, a lot of trucks have accumulated from Kazakhstan at the Syrym automobile checkpoint, which is located opposite the Russian Mashtakovo checkpoint in the Orenburg region. There are also many vehicles on the Zhana Zhol APP opposite the Russian Petukhovo in the Kurgan region and on the Kurmangazy APP opposite the adjacent Karauzek APP (Astrakhan region).

"For example, if 600 trucks used to pass through Mashtakovo checkpoint per day, now there are 200 trucks. This indicates that the transport is in no hurry to enter the territory of Russia," the FCS clarifies.

The agency explained that customs officers, based on appeals from entrepreneurs and to combat gray imports, carry out traditional verification measures to stop the import of products dangerous to citizens. It is emphasized that the customs authorities carry out inspections of trucks and warehouses on the territory of Russia outside the checkpoints and, thus, cannot be the cause of delays.

"Truck drivers who allegedly planned to import goods with violations, in order to avoid checks, are in no hurry to cross the border to enter checkpoints on the border with Kazakhstan and provoke traffic congestion on the adjacent side. The drivers are standing at the direction of unscrupulous cargo owners, without even approaching the checkpoints from Kazakhstan," the press service said.

On September 22, the press service of the Federal Customs Service reported that customs had detained a shipment of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) from Kazakhstan in the Samara region. 34 disassembled UAVs and one quadcopter (DJI Mavic) with a remote control were found while checking a gazelle en route to Bashkortostan. The car was stopped by the staff of the mobile group near the MAPP Sagarchin.
