Deputy Speaker of the Polish Sejm Krzysztof Bosak called on the country's authorities to open the border with Belarus. He announced his demand at a press conference on September 23.

"Our requirements relate to more than 1,000 trucks. It's hard to believe that Polish trucks and Polish citizens were held hostage by the decision of the Polish government," RIA Novosti quoted Bosak as saying.

He added that the closure of the border does not harm Belarus, as the movement of goods has not stopped, transportation now passes through the Baltic countries. At the same time, the downtime of a Polish truck in Belarus is estimated at €1,000 per day.

On September 12, Poland closed the border crossings operating on the borders with Belarus. It was reported that the adoption of this decision was conditioned by the Russian-Belarusian strategic exercises Zapad-2025.

On September 15, the head of the State Customs Committee of Belarus announced his readiness to reopen the checkpoint on the border with Poland if the Polish side makes a similar decision. He stressed that if the border closure is temporary, it will not have a significant impact on the overall cargo flow, but ordinary people who do not have time for a vacation or business trip may suffer from such restrictions.

On September 18, the media reported that Poland's decision to close the border with Belarus would deal a serious blow to the EU's trade with China, and could also damage Polish companies. The border closures have affected the trade route that transports 90% of rail freight between China and the EU.
