Russian President Vladimir Putin appreciates the constructive relationship he has developed with US President Donald Trump. This was announced on September 21 by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

"Putin appreciates the constructive relationship he has developed with President Trump, and appreciates the opportunity to openly discuss the most pressing issues," he said in a conversation with Pavel Zarubin, a VGTRK journalist.

The press secretary of the head of state added that the Russian leader, like his American counterpart, remains interested and open "to the conclusion of the entire Ukrainian history in the direction of a peaceful settlement."

Peskov also pointed out that Moscow is counting on Washington's continued assistance in finding ways to resolve the Ukrainian crisis. The Russian side will continue to work to "find the possibility" of a peaceful settlement of the conflict, he said.

On September 9, Trump said he was still determined to achieve a settlement in Ukraine. On September 15, he expressed confidence in an early meeting between Putin and President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky. After that, on September 19, the permanent representative of the United States to NATO, Matthew Whitaker, shared that Trump did not intend to impose conditions on the conclusion of an agreement between Russia and Ukraine. However, he noted that the United States plans to use leverage to accelerate the process of resolving the Ukrainian crisis.
