The Sakhalin Transport Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation into the derailment of wagons on the railway. This was reported on September 20 in the Telegram channel of the Far Eastern Transport Prosecutor's Office.

According to preliminary data, the incident occurred on September 20 at about 2:00 a.m. local time on a non-public track in the area of Yuzhno-Sakhalinskaya CHP-1. Eight coal wagons derailed, traveling in coupling with the locomotive after loading.

"Overturning of wagons is not allowed, there are no casualties. The situation did not affect train traffic," the prosecutor's office said.

The amount of damage is currently being determined. During the inspection, an assessment will be given of the condition of the track facilities, wagons and the control mode of the locomotive.

Earlier, on September 10, it was reported that three people were injured in an accident in the Sakhalin region. The accident occurred on the Nevelsk –Shebunino road near the village of Seleznevo. It was noted that the UAZ car flew off the bridge into the river. Employees of the fire and rescue unit helped one of the victims to get out of the transport, it required the use of an emergency rescue tool.
