A single diesel locomotive derailed near Semrino station in the Gatchina district of the Leningrad region. This was announced on September 14 by the governor of the region, Alexander Drozdenko.

According to him, as a result of the accident, the driver died, who was trapped in the cabin. The man died in the ambulance.

"The train driver was killed — he was trapped in the cabin, after unblocking he died in an ambulance," the governor said in a message on the Telegram channel.

In the Leningrad region, Drozdenko specified, the work of law enforcement officers will be strengthened to ensure security on all types of transport.

In addition, additional forces were sent to restore train traffic. The number of buses has been increased in the Luga–Gatchina– St. Petersburg direction. Information about routes is announced by voice messages at the stations and stations of the Luga and Gatchina directions, the governor noted.

Earlier in the day, a diesel locomotive with 15 empty tanks derailed in the Luga district of the Leningrad region. 10 commuter trains were detained in connection with the incident.
