In the north-west of Argentina, an earthquake of magnitude 5.9 occurred near the city of Salta. This was announced on September 4 by the European Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC).
It is noted that the source of the tremors lay at a depth of 176 km. The epicenter of the earthquake was located 186 km west of Salta. According to seismologists, the earthquake occurred at 04:10 local time (07:10 Moscow time).

Earlier, on September 1, an earthquake of magnitude 6.0 occurred in Afghanistan. Tremors were recorded 50 km northeast of the city of Jalalabad with a population of 200 thousand people.
