Why are there so many earthquakes in Turkey

Turkey is located in one of the most seismically active regions of the world, with the Alpine-Himalayan Range running through the entire territory of the country. Four tectonic plates converge in this region — the Eurasian, African, Anatolian and Arabian. There are almost 500 small but active lines around Turkey, which cause tremors to occur regularly in the country. About 24,000 tremors are recorded there every year. Most of them do not lead to serious damage, and some are practically not felt.
