Flea markets come across valuable vintage, which is easy to confuse with a fake. Olga Leffers, founder of the VintageDream gallery, designer LEFFERS, art critic, collector and fashion historian, told Gazeta on August 31 how to distinguish a real vintage from a fake.Ru».

"Finding an authentic vintage is actually quite a difficult task. It is very important to pay attention to the little things: the handwriting of a particular designer, the date of the patent, the copyright marks, the absence of traces of glue, and even the age and thickness of the threads with which the labels are sewn," she explained to the publication.

The designer explained that in order to accurately determine the authenticity of vintage items, it is necessary to have a good understanding of fashion history. Therefore, before delving into the world of vintage, it is worth studying specialized literature. A great start would be the two-volume encyclopedia by Carla and Roberto Brunialti, dedicated to rare jewelry, which is considered mandatory for all novice collectors, she advises.

The expert added that labels, patents and stamps are key reference points in the search for valuable vintage, allowing you to accurately set the production date. The designer explained that, for example, in the 70s, clothing labels were most often made of fabric and decorated with hand embroidery, while standardized mass-produced tags began to appear only by the 90s.

Leffers advised to pay attention to the copyright mark (Latin letter "C" in the circle. — Ed.). Since it appeared only in 1955, the presence of this symbol on an item claimed to be older is a clear sign of forgery.

"Do not forget that the real vintage has traces of natural wear and cannot look absolutely "new". Scuffed fabrics, uneven, hand—stitched seams, scratches on metal fittings and patina on jewelry are all details that tell about the unique history of the product," the expert concluded.

In an interview with the Newspaper.Ru" On August 23, Polina Repik, founder and creative director of the Polina Repik clothing brand, said that there is a tendency to create color duets in the latest clothing collections from world designers. She noted that instead of neutral shades, trendsetters prefer bright and bold combinations, as well as acidic colors that allow for a futuristic accent.
