"Yesterday, on the Odessa–Reni highway, at the Palanka checkpoint, a policeman from the Zaporizhia region suddenly stopped, ran out of the car and ran across the border with Moldova," the newspaper's Telegram channel says.
The detainee's wife, who was in the car, reported that they were heading to the city of Izmail to choose an apartment, and was not aware of her husband's intention to escape.
On August 9, it became known that Maxim Standratyuk, the former deputy police chief of the Ukrainian city of Izmail in the Odessa region, had fled abroad. It was clarified that the police confirmed the dismissal of Standratyuk. Previously, he worked as an inspector and temporarily replaced the deputy chief of the patrol police.
