In Donetsk, employees of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations rescued a girl from the rubble after shelling. Thus, the number of victims has increased to four. This was announced on August 16 by the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia.

"Yesterday, in the Kievsky district of the capital of the DPR, two explosive objects hit a nine-story building. In one of the entrances, the interstory slabs from the fourth to the first floor collapsed. A girl born in 2007 was trapped under the rubble. The victim was handed over to the doctors. <...> One person was killed and four others were injured due to the shelling," the ministry said.

It is noted that rescuers manually dismantled the collapsed structures to rescue the resident. The staff of the Ministry of Emergency Situations dismantled the damaged balcony plates. 30 specialists and 9 pieces of equipment of the Ministry of Emergency Situations were involved in the search and rescue operation.

The day before, a correspondent of Izvestia reported on an attack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on an apartment building in Donetsk. A shell hit a house located in the Kievsky district of Donetsk. Later, the head of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), Denis Pushilin, clarified that two apartment buildings and a school were also damaged as a result of hits by long-range weapons of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
