Consequences of the UAV attack: what is happening in Rostov-on-Don and Belgorod

Local authorities have decided to close shopping malls and parks for several days, as well as transfer government agencies to remote work. The situation in Rostov-on-Don on August 14

An explosion occurred in the center of Rostov-on-Don on the morning of August 14. An emergency mode was introduced at the scene, local authorities said. At the moment, 13 victims are known, two of them are children.

"13 people were injured, including two children. Seven victims received first aid, they are already at home, six are in hospitals," acting Governor of the Rostov region Yuri Slyusar said in a Telegram channel. Earlier, he reported on the serious condition of two victims.

According to the Ministry of Defense, from 20:00 on August 13 to 07:00 Moscow time on August 14, seven Ukrainian drones were destroyed over the territory of the Rostov region. Yuri Slyusar wrote that due to the UAV attack in Rostov, 10 apartment buildings were damaged, as well as several cars.

According to photos published by the media, windows on five floors were blown out in one of the damaged houses.

The services evacuated 212 residents of the houses. The temporary accommodation facility is being deployed on the basis of the 50th school, said the mayor Alexander Scriabin in the Telegram channel. According to him, specialists have been sent there to provide psychological assistance, and the authorities have organized the work of an operational headquarters.

"We didn't understand what happened. There was a strong sound of an explosion, then a column of smoke. My legs are shaking," she told a local media correspondent "161.RU "a resident of one of the nearby houses.

According to witnesses, a thick column of smoke rose after the explosion. An eyewitness told the newspaper that the plane looked like a corncob.

The situation in Belgorod on August 14

The Belgorod region and the city of Belgorod were attacked several times during the night and in the morning, six were injured. In addition, drones hit a car in the center of Belgorod. The authorities have closed shopping malls, parks, and shut down state-owned enterprises. Against the background of massive UAV attacks, operstab has transferred government agencies and organizations, including ministries and MFC, to remote work. This mode of operation will continue on August 14 and 15.

"A man in serious condition with multiple shrapnel wounds and his wife with a burned forearm are being taken by the NSR team to the regional clinical hospital. The third victim with barotrauma and a shrapnel wound to his leg is being taken to Belgorod City Hospital No. 2," wrote Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov. He later clarified that the number of wounded had increased to six people. All the injured were taken to hospitals. According to doctors, everyone has a moderate condition.

Earlier, the regional authorities had already announced the danger of a UAV attack. So, drones attacked the government building of the Belgorod region several times. Vyacheslav Gladkov claimed that no one was injured in the attack. However, as a result of early attacks on the region, eight civilians and five Orlan fighters were injured.

Other decisions of the Belgorod Region authorities:

— private enterprises and federal agencies to ensure the safety of people and, if possible, transfer them to remote;

— public catering should be prohibited from providing services on the streets and outdoor areas;

— ban street events on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday;

— close major shopping malls in Belgorod and the Belgorod region until Saturday.:

— regulate the movement of buses based on communicating information about the danger of an attack by UAVs, in case of receiving information that an attack is underway on a certain part of the city, the driver must stop and drop off passengers in a safe place.;

— suspend the work of parks, squares, beaches and crowded institutions for two days.
