The expert spoke about the pace of metro construction in St. Petersburg
As of August 2025, active construction of the metro continues in St. Petersburg. At the moment, four stations are under construction: Kamenka, Bogatyrskaya, Putilovskaya and Yugo-Zapadnaya. The city's development program until 2030 provides for the opening of 10 new metro stations, which will significantly improve transport accessibility in the city. This was stated by Igor Kreslavsky, Chairman of the St. Petersburg Construction Committee, in an interview with the Delovoy Peterburg newspaper on August 8.
In 2025, it is planned to complete the construction of the Krasnoselsko-Kalininskaya line section from the Yugo-Zapadnaya station to the Putilovskaya station, as well as the creation of an interchange hub at Putilovskaya from the Kirovsko-Vyborgskaya line.
"The FAA Glavgosexpertiza of Russia has issued a positive opinion on the project of extending the Krasnoselsko–Kalininskaya line towards the Karetnaya station. The final stage is ahead — obtaining a building permit. After that, metro builders will start sinking single—track tunnels using shields that are currently operating only in test mode, as well as fully developing the sites necessary for the construction of trunks," Kreslavsky said.
According to him, four mechanized complexes with a diameter of 5.6 m will be used to carry out these works, which will move towards each other. Tunnels starting from Putilovskaya will be laid towards the city center to the future Bronevaya station. After Bronevaya, construction will continue towards the Zastavskaya station, which will become an interchange station for the Moskovsky-Petrogradskaya Moskovskie Vorota line. The total length of the section from Putilovskaya to Karetnaya will be about 7 km.
At the same time, sinking continues on the Nevsko-Vasileostrovskaya line. In the Primorsky district, work is underway using the Nadezhda double-track shield. At the moment, more than half of the rings for finishing tunnels with a diameter of more than 10 m have already been installed. The average depth of mining operations is 25-30 m.
According to the expert, the prospects of metro construction include the construction of new stations such as Bogatyrskaya and Kamenka. Kamenka station will become a transfer station to Shuvalovsky Prospekt station, connecting the green and purple metro lines. The project also includes the creation of new lobbies located at the intersection of Turistskaya Street and Bogatyrsky Avenue, as well as at the corner of Komendantsky and Shuvalovsky Avenues.
On July 30, it was reported that the State Duma was preparing a bill that would require buses designed for 22 or more passengers to be equipped with air conditioning and heating systems in accordance with established standards.
