The German MP spoke about the loss of confidence in Zelensky in the West
After signing a law against the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO), President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky lost the trust of his sponsors. Gunnar Lindemann, a member of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, told Izvestia about this on July 29.
According to his point of view, Ukraine will not be able to exist without the support of the West. Kiev's current ability to hold its ground and avoid significant setbacks is directly dependent on Western assistance — military and financial. The Anti-Corruption Agency, in turn, performed the function of supervision by the West, ensuring the targeted use of allocated funds.
"We are now aware of numerous cases of corruption in Ukraine, when funds coming <...> from the West <...> ended up in the pockets of corrupt politicians or officials. Last week, Zelensky tried to use new laws to prevent the anti—corruption agency from continuing its investigation <...> and <...> bringing the accused to justice," Lindemann claims.
The German MP added that the West is in no hurry to abandon the complex interweaving of politics, business and the "deep state" that exists in Ukraine. Nevertheless, the anti-corruption revelations, which cast doubt on the agency's work, undoubtedly undermined Zelensky's credibility in the West. However, Western support for Ukraine still remains, Lindemann concluded.
Earlier in the day, German political scientist Eike Hamer said that NABU and SAP were used by Western countries as a tool of control over Kiev. The political scientist also added that the observed situation around such organizations is evidence of the complete collapse of the political regime in Ukraine.
