- Mishustin and Pashinyan discussed the situation with trade turnover between Russia and Armenia
Russian and Armenian Prime Ministers Mikhail Mishustin and Nikol Pashinyan discussed trade and economic cooperation at a meeting on Thursday. This was announced on July 24 by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk.
"Of course, we are concerned about the reduction in trade turnover between the two countries. And we discussed what needs to be done to improve the situation here, and discussed Russian investments in the Republic of Armenia," the Deputy Prime Minister told reporters.
In addition, the Prime Ministers also touched upon issues related to the situation in the South Caucasus. Overchuk described the talks between the heads of government as very useful.
Mishustin and Pashinyan met earlier in the day on the sidelines of an international environmental conference at the Manzherok resort in Altai. On behalf of the Russian side, Overchuk, Deputy Head of the Government Staff Elmir Tagirov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrei Rudenko and Deputy Head of the Ministry of Economic Development Vladimir Ilyichev also took part in the negotiations.
On July 16, Pashinyan noted that Armenia wants to have friendly relations with Russia based on mutual respect. The Armenian Prime Minister added that Yerevan is not looking for a conflict with Moscow, and he himself has developed open and sincere relations with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Mishustin.
