The European Union (EU) is ready to resort to various retaliatory measures if the Israeli leadership abandons its obligations to protect civilians in the Gaza Strip. This was announced on July 22 by the head of European diplomacy, Kaya Kallas.

"If Israel does not fulfill its promises, all options remain," Kallas wrote on her page on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

She also stressed that there can be no justification for the killing of civilians at humanitarian aid distribution points in the Palestinian enclave.

On June 26, the final statement of the EU countries reported that the summit participants had not decided to impose sanctions against Israel, but called for an urgent truce in the Gaza Strip. The EU representatives also stressed that the full release of all hostages should begin without preconditions, which would serve as an impetus for a complete cessation of violence.
