Ford Motor Company is recalling 850.3 thousand vehicles in the United States due to concerns about a possible malfunction of the fuel pump, Reuters reports, citing a letter from the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

"According to the NHTSA, a faulty fuel pump can reduce the fuel supply from the tank to the engine, which will cause the engine to stop and increase the risk of an accident," the material says.

It is specified that before the fuel pump fails, drivers may notice a deterioration in engine performance, including ignition failures, uneven operation, decreased power or the Check Engine indicator lights up. It is noted that the possibility of malfunctions is higher when the fuel level is low or in hot weather.

The Car Safety Department has received six consumer complaints about power loss due to a pump malfunction.

According to NHTSA estimates, the defect has been detected in 10% of potentially affected vehicles.

Earlier, on April 3, it was reported that almost 2 thousand cars were recalled by an official Toyota dealer in Russia. According to Rosstandart, the cause was likely engine problems. It was clarified that dealers will recall LC 300 and LX 600 cars. Experts stressed that Toyota is recalling cars with engines from 2021-2022 due to debris inside the engine.
