A forest fire that has covered more than 2.1 thousand hectares has been localized in France.

In France, firefighters were able to localize a forest fire raging for the third day and covering more than 2.1 thousand hectares. This was announced on July 9 by the prefecture of the Ml Department on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

"By now, the fire that started in the commune of Narbonne on July 7 and has covered more than 2.1 thousand hectares has been localized," the statement said.

More than 1,000 specialists from all over the country were involved in fighting the fire, six of them were slightly injured during the work. The fire that got close to the buildings also destroyed three residential buildings, a barn and several pieces of automotive equipment. The deaths of three horses are also reported.

Aviation is involved to eliminate the fire.

A large-scale forest fire in France was reported on July 8. For security reasons, the local airport has temporarily suspended flights. In addition, the railway service was interrupted. It is noted that 720 firefighters and more than 220 units of other equipment were involved in extinguishing the fire.

On July 9, Jean-Philippe Coutaro, deputy regional delegate of the Reconquista political party, told Izvestia that the scale of the fire was caused by prolonged heat, drought and strong winds. For security reasons, all roads in the area of the city were blocked.
