American leader Donald Trump is acting selfishly and thinks only about short-term benefits, so for the United States, issues of peace in the Middle East and Ukraine have now receded into the background. This was announced on July 7 by former French Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin on the air of the LCI channel.

According to him, Trump believes that "everything is allowed" to him and perceives the world as a hunt for resources.

"There are fewer and fewer resources, and America wants to seize the remaining resources. <...> Trump is acting harshly. He easily uses force and puts pressure on others with his power. We see this in the situation with customs duties," said the former French Prime Minister.

De Villepin stressed that the United States is currently unable to make informed decisions, while the European Union (EU) does not protect its sovereignty. He added that European leaders "looked weak" at the NATO summit in The Hague and were not coping with the problems in Ukraine and the Middle East.

"Europe chooses collective subordination instead of collective security. The Europeans are not fulfilling their historical role and are not ready to take responsibility. They're playing games," de Villepin added.

On July 2, Pentagon Chief Pete Hegseth announced that the United States had decided to suspend the supply of dozens of interceptor missiles for Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems, more than 100 Hellfire missiles, dozens of Stinger missiles, more than 250 GMLRS guided precision-guided missiles and other types of weapons to Ukraine.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on July 3 that the United States had stopped supplying weapons to Kiev due to the fact that it did not have time to produce enough weapons and ammunition to simultaneously support Ukraine and Israel. He also stressed that the cessation of military aid supplies to Kiev means a faster end to the Ukrainian conflict.
