Production of Eurofighter Typhoon fighters has been halted in Britain.
The British defense company BAE System has suspended production of Eurofighter Typhoon fighters due to a lack of new orders. This was reported on July 6 by the Financial Times newspaper, citing a source.
"There's only one fighter left in the hangar. In fact, it is waiting for completion and painting. As for the main assembly line, it has been stopped, there are no workers there," the source said.
It is specified that the Wharton plant is preparing for the last delivery of the aircraft to Qatar. This order was placed back in 2017.
On June 24, the British government announced plans to purchase 12 new F-35A fighter jets capable of carrying nuclear weapons from the United States. It is specified that 15% of the components of the global supply chain will be based in the UK, which will save 20,000 jobs.
