Chronic cystitis is most common in women due to anatomical features and changes in hormonal status. Cystitis can also develop as a result of inflammation of the pelvic organs and when stones are found in the bladder with urolithiasis (ICD). Alexander Umnov, a lecturer at the Department of Surgery at the Medical Faculty of the State University of Education, told Izvestia on June 19.

"Cystitis of an infectious nature is associated with an excessive increase in pathogenic and conditionally pathogenic microflora in case of non-compliance with perineal hygiene, decreased immunity. Chronic cystitis is possible with the so—called neurogenic bladder, when the emptying of this organ is disrupted," explained Umnov.

According to him, urine stagnates, microorganisms multiply, which further leads to inflammation of the walls of the organ. A similar mechanism of cystitis development accompanies prostate adenoma.

The doctor listed the risk factors: taking antibiotics, glucocorticoids and other drugs that cause immune suppression. Stress, hormonal imbalance, and diabetes also do not increase the stability of the bladder wall. Alcoholism and tobacco smoking worsen the blood supply to the walls of the organ, which contributes to the development of infection in the area of impaired blood supply.

Before starting treatment, it is necessary to send urine for culture in order to know which bacterium to treat. To reduce pain, the specialist recommended taking nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and uroseptics (for example, monural). However, this is just a recommendation — you need to consult a doctor for treatment.

"After receiving the results of sowing, antibiotics are prescribed: cephalosporins, macrolides. It is also necessary to adhere to a certain diet: drink plenty of water, limit salt," said Umnov.

Earlier, on March 13, Professor Evgeny Shpot told Izvestia about the diagnosis and treatment of kidney diseases. He explained that kidney diseases can be nephrological and urological. The doctor also said that percutaneous endoscopic interventions are used to treat urolithiasis.
