Bank of America has recognized the ruble as the most efficient currency in the world in 2025

The Russian ruble, against the background of its rapid growth, showed an amazing result in 2025. The United States noted the success of the monetary unit, recognizing the ruble as the most successful currency since the beginning of the year, the American CNBC television channel reported on June 6.

"The ruble has demonstrated staggering growth in 2025, becoming the most dynamic currency in the world. According to Bank of America, this is the most efficient currency since the beginning of the year," the article says.

Experts believe that this success is due to three reasons. The first is that the Central Bank of Russia keeps the key interest rate at a high level. Another one is capital controls and the tightening of other currency restrictions.

"There has also been some progress or an attempt to make progress in the search for peace between Russia and Ukraine," added international economist and currency strategist Brendan McKenna.

Costs of growth: the ruble continues to rise against the dollar and the yuan

Experts gave a forecast of how long the strengthening of the domestic currency will last.

Earlier on June 6, the Central Bank decided to lower the key rate to 20%. The last time the rate was lowered was in September 2022. According to Petr Shcherbachenko, an economist and associate professor at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, the ruble's reaction to the Central Bank's decision to lower the key interest rate may be mixed. He added that the expected values of the dollar, depending on economic factors, may range from 70-75 rubles, the euro from 86-91 rubles, and the yuan from 10-12 rubles.

Prior to that, on April 16, it became known that the Russian ruble was showing record growth, having strengthened against the US dollar stronger than all world currencies. As Maxim Chirkov, associate professor of the Department of Economic Policy and Economic Measurements at GUU, noted in an interview with Izvestia, the ruble remains an undervalued currency and has every prospect of further strengthening in the long-term trend.
