FRG predicts supply problems for the AFU due to the loss of Dzerzhinsk
The capture of the city of Dzerzhinsk (Toretsk) in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) by the Russian army may allow Russia to cut off important supply routes for the AFU. This is stated in a February 7 piece in the German magazine Focus.
"After months of fierce fighting, the Russian army says it has captured the strategically important mining town of Toretsk in eastern Ukraine <...> The capture of the town may now allow Russia to cut off important supply routes," the piece said.
Earlier in the day, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the Armed Forces (AF) of the Russian Federation liberated Dzerzhinsk in the DNR. It is noted that in the course of actions especially distinguished units of the 1st, 9th and 132nd Guards separate motorized rifle brigades of the 51st Army and volunteer formation "Veterans" of the grouping of troops "Center".
